Women's Rights

This site is dedicated to the women’s suffrage movement and the amazing women involved. Between 1875 and1938 is clearly documented within the historic essays and descriptive timeline included on this site. Maybe the most powerful part of this site is the 448 photographs showing women in action; picketing, parading, speaking and protesting for their cause. “Women of Protest: Photographs from the Records of the National Woman’s Party presents both images that depict this broad range of tactics as well as individual portraits of organization leaders and members.” (Website)

Timeline- The timeline gives a brief history of all the major events and dates of womans suffrage. It begins in 1912 and continues until 1997. The timeline is broken down into important segments where a lot of major turning points occured. It includes events personal to the many women who were involved as well as important details of the National Woman's Party. Tactics and Techniques of the National Woman's Party Suffrage Campaign- This essay explains the National Woman's Party and how "the NWP effectively commanded the attention of politicians and the public thrrough its aggressive agitation, relentless lobbying, clever publicity stunts, and creative examples of civil disobedience and nonviolent confrontation." Historical Overview of the National Woman's Party- This essay shares information about how the National Woman's Party began and how it developed into the strong party it became. The NWP stayed a strong political party through the 20th century and continued to make stands on the behalf of all women.
